Very personal blog

This one has been a while in the making.

This past Christmas I wanted to do something a little different. I've wanted to do this for the past few years but for some reason this year on Christmas day it just drove me to go do it.

I went out and interviewed and photographed some of the homeless in the Reno area. It was truly a memorable moment. It really made me think for the next few weeks about what I learned and the stories I heard. I was really amazed at how those that were out there all had different attitudes about where they were in life. Some were fine with what they were doing and even admitted to taking advantage of the "system" and the help they are given. Others wouldn't talk to me about it because of the shame they felt. Very humbling and a great learning experience.

I plan on doing this again but with some of the less fortunate that are in the shelters and don't get out. I also want to put together their stories and their portraits for a show one day.

Well here are a few of the images from the day. I hope you all enjoy.

The one thing that still get's me to this day is the smiles on some of their faces.......

WOW, what great pictures! Some of them tell you their story through their eyes. Nice work.

Aaron - thank you for sharing something so intimate and close. I knew there was something in you that I was drawn to - it must be your open heart and kindness. It truly takes a special person to not only think of such a personal project but to act on it tells an even better story. Thank you for taking your vision and sharing it with the rest of us.
