iPad wedding album?

Being an apple geek I was pretty excited about the new iPad (the name could have been better that's for sure).

The first thing I thought was how amazing would this be use as a portfolio display when meeting with clients but then it hit me!

Why not GIVE one to clients?

Imagine scrolling through your wedding album on a 10" screen instead of the traditional wedding album!

We are going to give people the option of the 16gb iPad or the 40pg Deluxe Album that comes in our top package ($4,900). That package already includes an engagement session, printed 4x6 proofs, a DVD of all your images with full copyright for you to print and a second shooter for the whole day (max 9 hours).

I wonder what most people will choose??? :)

Ask us for more details and book soon, spots are filling up fast for this season.

Go check out Freemans Natural Hotdogs!

Good friends of mine opened up a great new restaurant on California Ave!

California Ave is becoming quite the hot spot right now with St. James Infirmary, Rubicon Deli, Biggest Little City Club (used to be Satellite) and now Freemans!

Featuring organic ingredients and offering what they call "Food with a conscience". Lot's of vegan or vegetarian options along with some good ole' real beef hotdogs.

Underwood Photography did the product photos for their advertising and menus and was also there for their opening on Friday.

Here are a few images from the opening. Go check them out!!!

Oh the things we will do for friends........

Local news was there

Tuesday

Very personal blog

This one has been a while in the making.

This past Christmas I wanted to do something a little different. I've wanted to do this for the past few years but for some reason this year on Christmas day it just drove me to go do it.

I went out and interviewed and photographed some of the homeless in the Reno area. It was truly a memorable moment. It really made me think for the next few weeks about what I learned and the stories I heard. I was really amazed at how those that were out there all had different attitudes about where they were in life. Some were fine with what they were doing and even admitted to taking advantage of the "system" and the help they are given. Others wouldn't talk to me about it because of the shame they felt. Very humbling and a great learning experience.

I plan on doing this again but with some of the less fortunate that are in the shelters and don't get out. I also want to put together their stories and their portraits for a show one day.

Well here are a few of the images from the day. I hope you all enjoy.

The one thing that still get's me to this day is the smiles on some of their faces.......

Sunday

What a blog post??

Yes!!! I am blogging........for how long though?

Well with clients as fun and amazing as Vince and Rikki it's just going to happen all the time. They drove in from the bay area to have us photograph their engagement session.

Cannot wait for their wedding in Tahoe later this year!

Cook - Bulger at Tannenbaum

Tannenbaum is a great location to get married! Beautiful spot. Check out their website for more info. http://www.tannenbaumevents.com/

Here are some pictures from Belle and Michael's wedding. Such a fun and beautiful couple!!!!

Quotes like this is what makes this job the best job in the world. "I just looked through the pictures...THEY ARE SO AWESOME!!!! :)I think I cried more looking at the photos than i did at the wedding itself... you ROCK! "

NO YOU ROCK BELLE!!!! Enjoy the images.

Sunday

Lisa Stacilauskas and Gary Hebert

Here are some photos from the wedding of two amazingly talented and beautiful people that I had the privilege to be a part of their special day. Lisa and Gary are both in the movie industry, Lisa even being a director of photography and camera operator for many TV shows and movies, it was a great honor to be chosen to document their day!

Keep an eye out for more images our latest weddings. We should be posting them in the next few days.

Blogging from My Favorite Muffin

I love my neighborhood! Hanging out at the Nevada Museum of Art, Satellite Lounge and having coffee at my favorite muffin store. Not a bad place to live!

Coming from Newport Beach in Southern California to Reno, NV was kind of a culture shock at first but I'm really loving this area now. Especially living in the Old Southwest area of Reno.

If you live in the area then say "hi" if you ever see me hanging out at any of the above places.

Make sure you check into the uBlog in the next few weeks to see our latest model shoot that we are doing with some other local photographers out in Virginia City! It is going to be amazing!!

Wednesday

Thursday

At the airport

Just thought I would blog about what an amazing time I had in Las Vegas this week! I'm at the airport now and waiting for a flight.

I attended the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) trade show and was just blown away. It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind (it's not that bad obviously) of shooting and just daily life. It is so refreshing to spend some time with fellow photogs and just networking.

I've met some of the most amazing people in my life at events like this and just added a few more to the list!

I also got to meet the winner of the Hy Sheanin Memorial Scholarship (which I wanted to win!!!!) and they made a great choice with the winner. Good job Dixie! Check out her work at www.dixiedixon.com

I am soooooo ready to get this season going and to kick some butt! :)

Friday

Beautiful Baby!

My most prized possession is a photo of me holding my daughter for the first time in the hospital, by far my favorite thing. I've always wanted to return that favor to others so I thought of starting out a new portrait side of the business.

It's called "First Day Memories." The idea behind it is to help record those special "first days." The first days of your babies life, first days of their first birthday, first days of school and so on.

What I wanted to do was start by offering a service where we are hired by expecting mothers to show up within the first few days (sooner the better) of the babies life to record the special moments that the parents are experiencing in the hospital or their home. I would then go home, edit the photos, upload them to a secure website and then email the link for the pictures to all of their friends and family to see.

Then the family can order prints and albums of the baby!

To start it off I figured what a better time then on LEAP YEAR!!! So I called up the local hospitals and offered to take pictures for a family of their leap year baby for no charge.

Here are a few of my favorites!

These were all done at Renown Hospital (used to be Washoe Med). St. Mary's won't let any other business take pictures of their babies because they have an in house company that does it.........sooooooooo have your baby at Renown! :)

It was so much fun and such a pleasure to help this family out. They were so appreciative and I was very happy to do it.

Saturday

Nevada Museum of Art

Went to the opening of Michael Sarich's "like, love, lust" exhibit at the NMA.

WOW!!!

Just amazing art work. I loved his layering techniques, something that we have been playing with at Underwood Photography with our photography. Taking layers of texture or patterns and overlaying imagery over those can create a great effect that you can almost feel.

Well I'm off to go back to the museum to see a film. Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten is being played at NMA, it's a documentary on Joe Strummer from the Clash.

I love NMA!!!!
